Colours Of The World
It is a buffet of colours, as usual, at MoOD Brussels. Now with a name change to include more wall covering and curtain makers, we find out what has always been selling red hot, and what colours and textures might be the greener pasture for next year.

"I’ve been coming to Decosit, and now MoOD, since the 80s. In the UK right now, consumer tastes are very wide. Natural colours such as beige are always popular. Soft brown, gold and steel blue colours are also seen. But there is not so much of red, unless as a wow factor; it’s not so mainstream."

"The trend is going for purples, berries and Fuchsia colours. There is going to be more muted pastels too. We sell a lot of velvet, prints and designed fabrics."

"In terms of sofa upholstery, earth colours and woven tapestry has been selling well for us."

"Most editors are not too brave to try out new things during this downtime. But we have to keep moving. We are using this period to try new techniques, finishing and parts. The project market is still trendy and need special effects, especially in hotels. For example, we created the shrinking yarn, which achieves a 3-D effect using the calendar technique, pressed with chrome roll. We actually see this being used a lot in fashion."

"The classical style is always the same without much change. Fine nice brown, beige and grey are always elegant and sophisticated. In terms of material, natural fibres like cotton, linen, viscose and cashmere are suitable for residential sector."
