Blue Drop Awards ‘09

Only original designs are presented at MoOD (Meet Only Original Designs), a new fair that was held from September 8 to 11, 2009, at Brussels, Belgium. The Blue Drops are presented to the best products in upholstery, window and wall coverings, giving creativity and inventiveness the attention they deserve. Seven Blue Drop awards were awarded this year amongst all the Blue Drop products by an international panel of judges, and we present them here.

Blue Drop Window Covering

Deltracon bvba

The experimental design and the clever way design and pattern interplay with different fibres wowed the judges. The focus on natural fibres this year also made this covering a winner as it is made of linen, a natural fibre.

Blue Drop Wall Covering

Villani Leonello SNC

Vega, this year’s winner, is made out of completely natural materials – a natural stone surface split into a thin foil of 0.2mm, with a fleece backing that allows easy application to walls. It can also be used for the contract market because the stone is naturally flame-proof, and presents a great alternative to marble.

Blue Drop Ecology

Conjugi Eger s.r.l.

Bioshade is a window covering made of organic cotton (60 percent) and linen (40 percent) in a fancy dobby structure, with a vintage finish that adds character to the product.

Blue Drop Outdoor

Dickson Constant Sunbrella

This velvet outdoor fabric is fade-resistant, water-repellent and stain-proof. It also breathes, is mold-resistant, and easy to clean.

Blue Drop Contract

Mueller Zell GmbH

This contract fabric makes excellent use of colours and design, giving a subtle cachet to each contract environment. The fresh design is inspired by 70’s tradition but does not copy it, and the soft natural gloss makes it delicate and different.

Blue Drop Innovative

Nachik by llith

The winner for this category features a vinyl upholstery for the residential market that simulates leather and shows colour when pulled, and was awarded for the idea, design and innovative character behind this product. It is made up of 53 percent polyurethane, 18.8 percent polyester and 28.2 percent cotton.

Blue Drop Upholstery

Vanoutryve

This design in velvet is an interpretation of checkers that is completely new and very stylish, blowing judges away with its good quality yarns, elegant colours, and combination of classic and modern.
