The 5th FL!P Challenge saw participants transform a wooden dining chair into a brand new piece of seating furniture art piece. They were given the Erpo Dining Chair to work on, which was sponsored by Star Furniture Industries Pte Ltd.

A total of 69 entries were received while only seven clinched the awards, and a special showcase during the International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS) 2009 held March 9-12 at the Singapore Expo.

This year, judges of the challenge include: Naoto Fukasawa (Founder, Naoto Fukasawa Design, Japan), Carsten Ovesen (Managing Director, Carsten Design/Chief Judge), Khoo Peng Beng (Council Member, Singapore Institute of Architects), Colin Seah (Member, Interior Design Confederation, Singapore) and Benny Tan (President, Designers Association Singapore).
