Innovations Aplenty

Imm Cologne’s hit guide the major highlights – as judged by the “hit scouts” - at the trade fair. Design was not the primary criterion, although it was considered just like other aspects – technical innovation or further development, new materials, a new segment for an exhibitor or simply an especially well-conceived product design. In short, this edition of imm cologne’s hit guide gathers together the spectacular, the trailblazing, the refined and the smart.

The Ladybug is a sofa lounge set with an enticing range of configuration options. The sculptural sofa and daybed boldly forms a deluxe ensemble of comfort and is expandable with stool cubes. The “Bone” lounge chair was manufactured in Tokyo using the Rapid Manufacturing Process, which eliminates material loss and high logistics costs. This production method was a decisive factor in the design. In the Bone Lounge Chair, material is used sparingly with a lot of hollow space, this design allows great stability at low weight with nature’s biological bone structures as inspiration.

I-Panel Home Office

I-panel is a modular wall panel that appealingly integrates a standard PC home workspace with the ambience of the surrounding furniture a stand-alone piece that is in harmony with every home space. The PC unit, screen and peripheral devices are concealed inside a narrow compartment and are accessible through an easy-to-use canopy slide that opens from the top.

“Magic Cube” is a stand-alone piece of furniture that opens up to be either a computer or office centre. With its extendable upper shelf, the workstation puts your laptop and printer at an ergonomically comfortable height for working. It also includes connections for electrical outlets.

The “Verbowen” (Interwoven) shelf applies the principle of fabric weaving as its central theme. A textile strap is threaded all around shelves, through milled notches in the wood, firmly tying them together. The textile strap becomes a integral structure from which the wooden shelves hang.

Designed by Olaf Schroeder for children two years and older, the table grows as they grow. The simple and functional screw-in design of the robust wooden legs allows height adjustment in four stages. The proportionately adjustable “growing bench” is the perfect accompaniment to the table, allowing children to arrange their play space and work station according to their personal tastes.

To Gather Again In March
Every March, the international furniture community gears itself up for a jam-packed calendar. Starting with MIFF in Kuala Lumpur and to finish with the CIFF-Office Show at the end of March, buyers and suppliers gather in Asia for the latest products and designs the region has to offer. This is in the form of more than a dozen exhibitions running back-to-back.
