Jerry TanSecretary-General “The award programme was a great platform to honour and recognize the achievements of successful companies and individuals, in the furniture industry in Asia. It brings together the best in the industry.” |

Lor Lean SenPresident “The award programme is a great way to recognise and motivate these outstanding industry players for their contributions towards the Asian furniture industry. Our strength has always been our manufacturing capabilities but to maintain our competitive advantage, we have to enhance overseas marketing strategies and work towards being an OBM, rather than OEM and ODM. Asian companies can also look into collaborations with like-minded overseas companies to develop innovative and trendy furniture designs.” |

Richard LeePresident “Generally, the programme is well timed in propelling the industry forward. APS Media Group has done a great job. There are more people participating this year and I look forward to seeing this Award and recognition on the global stage. Malaysian furniture has great potential since we only occupy less than three percent of the world’s market share. In terms of product, we are a reliable source for competitively priced quality furniture in Asia. There is great potential in furniture for the formal dining room. Right now, the products we offer are more focused on the kitchen dining area instead.” |

Shermaine OngExecutive Director “Branding is unavoidable, it will distinguish a company from others and if it’s coupled with service quality, operational excellence and augmented by skilful branding, you’ve got a winning company. My warmest congratulations to all recipients of the Furniture Leadership Award 2009 – you are pathfinders in your own way! My compliments to Dr Casey Loo and his team at APS Media Group for their vision and achievements as a professional group, working to raise the standards of the Asian furniture industries too.” |

Tan Sri Dato’ Soong Siew HoongCouncil Member & Chairman “All small- to medium-sized manufacturers must adhere to three main factors: international quality; price competitiveness; and timely delivery. The other sub factors include: good design; after sales service; packaging; and innovative marketing. Furniture manufacturers depend a lot on their suppliers to obtain good components. It is imperative that suppliers comply these three main factors too.” |

Clinton TrumanGeneral Manager, “The Malaysian furniture industry has vast potential for growth and can be touted as the next ‘China’. The furniture is reasonably priced and it is logistically easier to ship the products back to Singapore too. The quality of products has also improved as suppliers are able to better understand the needs and expectations of customers better.” |

To Gather Again In March
Every March, the international furniture community gears itself up for a jam-packed calendar. Starting with MIFF in Kuala Lumpur and to finish with the CIFF-Office Show at the end of March, buyers and suppliers gather in Asia for the latest products and designs the region has to offer. This is in the form of more than a dozen exhibitions running back-to-back.
