Ydesign Acquires Lumens

CALIFORNIA, USA: YDesign Group LLC, an up-and-coming company from the bay area has acquired Lumens, a furniture and home accessories retailer.

Lumens, which is based in Sacramento announced the immediately effective acquisition in a news release. The purchase price was undisclosed.

Lumens was founded by Ken Plumlee and Peter Weight in 2004, and sells lighting, modern furniture and home accessories. Lumens also sells their products online.

According to Jason Michaels, vice president of brand strategy for Lumens, the acquisition will not change the locations of the company.

Biz Journals reported that the president of Lumens will remain Jim Steeb. Plumlee will take on an advisory role, and Weight will remain his operating role. The company is staffed by 113 people at its three sites and will not expect additional staffing.

“The acquisition by YDesign Group helps further our mission and the Lumensbrand name,” Plumlee said in a prepared statement.

Design Group was founded in 2001 and is based in Walnut Creek. The products available at YDesign are modern lighting, home and decorative bath products online. Their other brands include YLighting, YBath, and Living. According to the group, YDesign’s revenue grew at a rate of 24 percent annually since 2012.
