Aldi Takes On Ikea

GERMANY: Aldi, a budget supermarket is set to take on furniture giant Ikea with the launch of their own line of Living Room Range that will feature cheap homeware.

Aldi’s range of affordable furniture will challenge Swedish furniture company Ikea. Aldi’s own collection, named Aldi’s Designer Living Room Range will feature chairs, cabinets, lamps and other homeware. Aldi shoppers will be able to shop for quality furniture at a price lower than than the Swedish company. Colin Mcleud, a retail expert believed that the new range would shake up the retail industry. “If I was a major retailer in just about any category I would be concerned. I think Aldi has just put IKEA on notice,” said Mr. Mcleud.

According to the Coventry Telegraph, Aldi and Lidl are set to set for success after the completion of Brexit as discount retailers could benefit more in the short and middle term.
