AHEC SEA & GRCH 20th Convention To Be Held in Nanning

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) moves to a new venue in China for its 20th anniversary Southeast Asia and Greater China Convention. On 25th June,2015 a media conference and market discussion panel will be held for AHEC members to meet some key industry representatives from China and Southeast Asia. On 26th June there will be a plenary session of keynote speakers, open to all pre-registered delegates.

In 2014 exports of American hardwood lumber alone increased by 34% to China to US$1.1 billion. China imported in total US$1.5 billion of U.S. hardwood products last year which is equal to 1/3 of global U.S. hardwood products exported, as well as nearly half of the U.S. hardwood lumber exported. China solidified its position as the single largest market for American hardwood products and the world economy’s spearhead of growth. Commenting on this trade Michael Snow, Executive Director of AHEC, said “About 60% of all American graded hardwood lumber is now exported, and 60% of that is shipped to China, making it by far the most important destination for our industry. But what is also important is that whereas ten years ago most of it was processed and returned as products, now it is mainly consumed in China.”

A mini exhibit showcase will take place on 26th June after the Convention and will feature a cocktail reception where AHEC members can meet with traders and potential buyers. “Nanning in Southwest China is a timber trading hub,” says John Chan, AHEC’s Regional Director, “so we are very exciting to link up with the trade and industry there.”

Nanning Marriott Hotel is currently accepting reservations for the AHEC Group Room Block at the rate of CNY658 net per night. The group rate is inclusive of daily buffet breakfast. The reservation is open until June 18, 2015.
